Our theme this week is 'Die cut'. Lots of options! Don't miss the gorgeous project by our September guest designer Anita Rao aka Beads, Charms and Wire

During this month, STAMPtember® is celebrated at Simon Says Stamp - a whole month dedicated to stamps and stamping, with so much inspiration and many surprises.

Since it is STAMPtember® I wanted the focus of my tag to be stamping. Die cuts can be used for so many techniques and you can also stamp with die cut images, which is a fun way to stretch the use of your die cuts even further. It can be done in different ways, so experiment with the surfaces you have at hand.

I coated a tag with a fairly thick and uneven layer of gesso. Let dry.

Paint with Salvaged Patina and Unchartered Mariner Distress Paint. Mist with water.

I die cut Tim Holtz Sizzix Bubbling die from a piece of fun foam left-over from a kids project. Glue it to cardstock, mat board or chipboard with matte medium. I used Sizzix Little Sizzles Mat Board

Apply paint to the die cut with ink-blending tools. Don't use too much paint. Stamp on the background. I used Mermaid Lagoon and Unchartered Mariner for the stamping.

I used the left-over circles to stamp white circles in the larger circles on the background.

Add some texture with Simon Says Stamp Crackle Background and stamp sentiments from Simon Says Stamp Real Leaves in some of the circles.

Ink Simon Says Stamp Real Leaves with various shades of Distress Ink. Mist with water and stamp on watercolor paper. I really enjoy stamping leaves like this.

Die cut the You Shine sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Matte Gold Cardstock and Island Blue cardstock. I added texture to the small word with a needle tool.

I planned to glue some sequins to the background, but realised that I could make shiny gold dots by die cutting the Bubbling die from the Matte Gold Cardstock instead.

Glue the gold dots to the background. They are uneven and match the stamping in the background.

The larger circles form a perfect home for small sentiments.

The sentiment was mounted with foam dots.

Experiment with different dies and colors to see what backgrounds you can come up with.

Some of the leaves were adhered with Simon Says Stamp foam tape.
