Thankful art journal

Hi friends! Today I have an art journal page to share with a mix of fun techniques and a gesso resist background.

A year ago I made a big change and I wanted to remember and celebrate with an art journal page. It involved a small little white house, so that calm space is included on the page. I used gesso and Distress Spray Stain to create the background, together with some inking.

Working on a page in my Dina Wakley 6x6 White Journal, I first applied gesso. It actually covered up a failed stamped impression. When dry, I misted the page with Distress Spray Stains. The gesso will to a large extent resist the spray, but will still pick up some color.

Stamp the windows with Sunbeam ink. Or skip to the next step.

You can also skip the stamping and die cut the houses from white paper. Since the Neighborhood die cuts out the windows, that part disappears. I stamped my houses before I decided that I wanted to die cut them.

Stamp the house with Simon Says Stamp Wood Planks and Fog ink.

I also die cut Simon Says Stamp Olive Leaves from cream and gold paper. The hearts were die cut from glitter paper with Simon Says Stamp Clipping Heart die

A few strips of Design Tape were added to the background.

I die cut the heart a second time, from Simon Says Stamp Peacock paper and offset it a little. The house was glued to the heart, where it belonged. A piece of cheese cloth is underneath the heart.

Bold Thankful was die cut from Peacock paper.

The main sentiment comes from Simon Says Stamp Document It and was stamped on heavystock paper which had been inked with Antique Linen.
