Rain Art Journal Page

Hello friends! I hope you are well and that you had a good weekend! Today I have an art journal page to share, with a fun way of using scrap papers.

At the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog we have a 'Whatever the Weather' theme this week. I hope you will join us! And don't miss the project by our March guest designer Sandra Rupp.

We have a saying in Sweden that there is no bad weather, only bad clothes, meaning that if you are just dressed for it, any weather is good weather. That is not always true of course, but there is beauty also on rainy days, which is what this art journal page is about. I don't let rain keep me from enjoying my walks.

This project started out by me spotting these strips of left-over inky and stamped papers. They were left-overs from my December Daily journal, from the inside pages, which is also why they are all basically the same size.

I picked out some papers at random and adhered them to a canvas page in my Dina Wakley Media Journal. The stamped dots on the background paper were done with the Circle Pattern Background stamp.

The pine trees come from the Simon Says Stamp Forest Scenery set and I inked them with shades of blue. Mist the inked stamp with water before stamping. I used a little more water than normally, since I wanted a fluid and misty look.

Use an ink blending brush and apply Distress Oxide inks through the Bubble Wrap stencil, focusing on the sky area.

I wanted more textures and rainy splatters and used the leaf texture stamp from the All Seasons Tree for that. It is a great stamp for general texture. Ink and mist with water before stamping.

Next, I stamped the Crackle Background with Faded Jeans and Deep Sea ink on the ground area, to increase the texture there and separate it from they sky.

The sentiment was die cut with Simon Says Stamp Capital B Beautiful die, from aqua holographic paper and blue glimmery cardstock. 'Rain' was die cut with the Archie Jr Solid set.

I painted a faint shadow under the trees, to ground them to the background. This sentiment stamp comes from Tim Holtz Tiny Text.

The green shade on one of these trees was a mistake, it was left on the stamp from a previous project, but I liked the mottled look it created. The largest pine tree is very watery and misty and you can see the background through it. The sentiment comes from Follow the Rainbows.

Here I combined two sentiments, stamping only the first line of the one on top. It continues with 'I am there for you', but that didn't fit my page. The sentiment and raindrop stamp are from Follow the Rainbows and the second sentiment comes from Beautiful Butterflies.

The hearts were die cut from holographic paper with the Clipping Heart die, and the glittery hearts were on my desk, left-over from die cutting Aqua glitter paper with one of the Slimline Borders and Edges dies.

Here you can see the holographic effect better, it is so cool, and it also look great together with the glimmer cardstock.
