Vibrant Leaves Wreath Tutorial

Hello friends! I hope your weekend was a good one. We spent quite a bit of time outdoors as usual and Anton and I also went to an old cemetery to light a candle for All Saints' Day, during which a lot of people light candles for loved ones who have passed away. It was beautiful.

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog, we have a Thanks or Thanksgiving theme. Since it is the first Monday of a new month, the team is showcasing a specific designer / company and this week it is IndigoBlu. You don't have to use their products, but if you have them at hand, it is always fun if you do.

Our November guest designer is Suman Pandit, and don't miss the vibrant card that she created for you today.

This week, I made a fall wreath, with lots of glorious, vibrant leaves. It is really easy to make and you don't need a lot of supplies. My wreath is about 5.5 x 5.5 in, but you could make it in almost any size. I used the IndigoBlu Tasty Textures set on all the leaves.

I started out by making a master board, using a single piece of watercolor paper. Distress Inks were smeared on my craft sheet and misted with water. The paper was pressed into the ink.

I used the Tasty Textures set from IndigoBlu and thought it worked great to create a subtle tone-on-tone texture on my leaves. Almost all the stamps in the set were stamped on the background, using Archival Inks. I used waterproof inks since I was planning to mist my paper in the next step.

For wonderful shine, mist the entire sheet of paper with Wendy Vecchi's Buttercup Mica Spray. I really love the warm yellow of this mist for autumn projects.

When dry, I die cut the leaves using Tim Holtz's Fall Foliage set. I also die cut branches from brown kraft-core paper, but forgot to include them here.

To give the leaves life, I shaped them with ball tools from the Tonic Craft Tools set.

For the base, I traced two circles on a piece of mat board using jars and cut them out. They were traced again on burlap and cut out. Distress the edges of the burlap a bit. This way, you don't need to worry about cutting perfect circles. I die cut a Tattered Curvy Banner, inked it and used a Small Talk Occasions sticker as my sentiment.

Start with the larger leaves and glue them down with Matte Medium. Add smaller leaves both on top and tucked underneath the larger leaves, and some branches here and there.

I covered almost all the burlap, but you can let more of it show through, if you want to.

I found a leftover yellow Clipping Heart on my desk, which fitted perfectly together with the sentiment. A bunch of pearls were added here and there.

The texture stamps makes each leaf unique, interesting to look at, and adds just the right amount of detail and texture.

You get a great variety of leaf dies in the Fall Foliage set and this grass one is one of my favorites.
