Tissue Paper Flower Class

Hi everyone and welcome to my blog! I hope you are having a good day. I am happy to have another online class ready, and it is a really fun one.

I love to make my own dimensional flowers, using different materials and techniques, as you probably already know if you visit my blog now and then. Flowers work for so many different themes, are very appreciated as gifts and are also such fun to make. Just looking at all the sample flowers I made for this class, makes me happy.

So I decided that I am going to do a DIY Flower Making classes series on Skillshare, showing different types of flowers, using a variety of materials and techniques. First out, is one of my favourites, namely tissue paper flowers. I love the look and feel of tissue paper flowers, and the idea of making something so pretty out of something as plain (and cheap) as tissue paper. You can even recycle tissue paper from a gift. You can see the introduction to the class above, and you can find the whole class here.

The flowers can be used for many different things and occasions. I made a card and a gift box as examples for the class. Another example are the tissue paper flowers on top of my Alphabet Sewing Box.

I had such fun making all the colourful samples for this class. Some of them were placed in a big glass bowl.

And a look into the bowl. In the class, we'll be making flowers in different sizes and colours, and I'll show you how to add patterns with stamps.

The box was made with Eileen Hull's Sizzix Candy Drawer die. One of my all-time favourite dies.

The box opens like this. My son wants to keep everything I make that you can open and put something inside, and has a big collection of boxes as a result. This little box was no exception.

The mat board was first die cut and then coated with gesso. I smeared Dina Wakley paints on with a palette knife and before the paint was completely dry, some of it was wiped off through two stencils, to create words and dots.

I stitched a button to the drawer as a handle.

The background of the card was done in the same way as the one on the box. I used white, patterned and recycled tissue paper for the flowers on the card.

The silver flower was made with recycled gift tissue paper.

You can make your flowers in any colour you can think of.

I am also showing you how to use the Eileen Hull Sizzix Twist & Style tool to add twisted wire stems and leaves to the flowers, as well as other details.

Skillshare is a subscription service, which gives you access to a wide range of classes. If you want to try it out, you can try it out for one month for $0.99 by following this link. I particularly like that the classes are divided into chapters, so you can watch one chapter and try out that particularly technique and then proceed with the following chapter when you have time. My class, for instance, consists of eight different videos and it is easy to follow along. I hope it is almost like taking a real life class with me.

I am linking the products I used for the class below, as a resource for the class.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that you will enroll in my Tissue Paper Flower class. I would really love to see you there.

Happy crafting!
