Explore, Discover, Create Journal Page

Hi and welcome! I hope you had a good weekend. We had a fun weekend with birthday parties for Anton and lots of activities. It is Monday again, and this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge blog with have a Transport theme. Fun!

Again, don't miss checking out our guest designer this month, Nicola from Paper Profusion.

I made an art journal page this week in my square Dylusions journal. I love to cycle and I am looking forward to spring so that I can take my bike out on the roads again, until then, a journal page had to be enough. I gave it a theme around the stamp about time, which I really like, and added both stamped, die-cut and rub-on words to support the theme.

The background was first white embossed with Tim Holtz great Halftone stamp. I also stamped the bikes and the main sentiment first, before inking. The page was inked with various Distress Inks.

The bike was stamped three times. I wanted a road to ground the bikes to the page and used my ruler and Jet Black ink to stamp grunge lines under the bikes. I also added an Industrious sticker.

Below the bikes, underneath the surface (or the road), I white embossed a bunch of clocks and compasses before inking. I made the page darker on this part of it, since it has to do with the workings beneath the surface. The gears die cut with Tim's Gearhead die set had already been misted, for another project, and I glued some of them on here.

After inking the page, I misted it with the Brushed Pewter Mica Spray. It doesn't show well on the photos, but gives it a great shine. I love arrows, and made my own by combining industrious border stickers with photo corners.

I also stamped the background with a brick stamp and Mermaid Lagoon ink, and added rub on sentiments, as well as a couple of butterflies. I also splattered the background with water, as you can see here.

'Explore' had been die-cut and misted in the same way as the gears. The arrow was stamped with Watering Can.

Here's a better look at the main quote. I really like it and have used it before.

More clocks, gears, compasses and sentiments.

I don't know if you can better see the gold shine on the gears on this photo, also from Mica Spray (Tarnished Brass).

And here's a look at the silver Mica spray on the background.
