December Countdown Tags Video Tutorial

Hi everyone! I hope you had a nice weekend! Our snow has almost disappeared and instead we got some autumn back again, with sunny weather.

At the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge this week we have a Trio of Something theme. Lots of options for this one: trio of products, trio of colours, trio of cards, etc.

I made the tags for my December Countdown Calendar, which will later go into my December journal as journaling tags. Each day, I take one tag off the calendar, write my journaling and tuck it into the journal. I really like the December Daily concept by Ali Edwards and have been doing it for five years now. I made the burlap panel for the calendar last year, you can find that tutorial here. So this year, all I needed to do was die cut, colour and stamp the tags. I went with a different colour combo for my tags, a trio of Distress Inks: Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio and Blueprint Sketch. I made a video showing my process, and I will share another video for the album itself once it is done.

Here's the video, you can also click to watch it on YouTube. I am not showing you all the tags, since that would make for a too long video, but walk you through the process of creating some of the tags.

Here are all the tags together. They all look different, but use the same colours ink and some repeated stamps, for unity. The stamps are by Tim Holtz.

I mainly use smaller Christmas stamps for this project, but just love this cabin one from Scribble Woodland so much, that it had to be on the first tag. You might recognize it from my Deer Winter Shadow Box from two weeks ago.

The tags hang on a hook that I screwed into the wooden burlap panel and are easy to remove. The kids, especially Anton, like to see how the days move closer to Christmas (this is not the only Christmas calendar in the house).

I took photos of some of the tags, just to give you an idea. After writing on them, I'll put them in my December album. You can find last years album here, if you want to have a look.

I liked the look of this Poinsettia stamp in Wilted Violet.

The bell comes from the new Festive Sketch set.

It is so fun to just sit and stamp. I have a big pile of stamps waiting to be cleaned now.

The Cracked Pistachio star/snowflake pattern is repeated on all the tags.

I stamped most of the sentiments with Watering Can so that they would stand out clearly.

Christmas is getting closer. These tags give me just enough space to jot down memories from Christmas. If I have much to write, I add an additional tag or paper and sometimes I include photos too. However, most of my Christmas photos end up in a scrapbooking album.

On Christmas Eve, I always use a Santa stamp, since that is when Santa comes knocking on the door in Sweden. He delivers the presents himself and doesn't come down the chimney to leave them at the tree.

I hope you will join us in our Trio of Something challenge. As every week, you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. You have until Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.
