Misted Layout Background

Hello friends! Did you have a good weekend? I hope so! Today we have a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for you - Spritz and Spray. Lots of possibilities with this fun theme!

You can do so much with mists and they are great for quick techniques or to cover large surfaces. I like to use light colours mist for backgrounds and today I was in the mood for a scrapbooking layout. This layout is about Leo's Christening and the dress he was wearing. One of my mom's friends crocheted this dress for my Christening. My mom managed to get it white again and changed the ribbon to a blue one. The photo is the 'thank you' photo I sent out after the Christening. 

For the background, I started by misting though a stencil on another piece of watercolour paper, but changed my mind, and misted some water on the inky stencil and used it as a stamp instead. I love the negative impression of the Dylusions Leaves stencil, and the smaller Hearts at the bottom.

Here you can see the misted version of the Hearts stencil to the right, and the stamped one to the left. I die cut some hearts from the piece to the left.

The Butterfly Duo was die cut from white sticky-back canvas - after first adhering the canvas to paper - and from vellum. Emboss in the coordinating folder. This is the same die that I used for my Mosaic Butterflies last week. Mist the canvas butterflies.

The butterflies were layered and stapled. I also die cut smaller butterflies from left-over canvas. I realised I hadn't embroidered on a page for quite some time, and embroidered a circle around the photo, which also functions as a home for the embellishments.

Hearts were die cut with Tim Holtz Heartfelt die from vellum, stencilled paper and canvas and layered together. I also die cut some hearts from burlap. The really small hearts were die cut with two Simon Says Stamp sets. Under the photo, I layered three pieces of stamped acetate, or modeling film, which were left-over from another project. Here you can see a lace piece stamped with a Wendy Vecchi stamp.

This piece of modeling film had been stamped with the Falling Snow stamp. All the stamping was done with Stazon Cotton White.

The third piece of modeling film was stamped with the Tiny Alphabet Background stamp. The stamp wasn't totally clean, so that stamping is both black and white, which gives it a great look.

The title was die cut from canvas with the Vintage Market XL die.

Circles were die cut with the Dots Circles die and layered here and there.

Here is the second canvas/vellum butterfly. I also glued some sequins to the page.

The lovely Bird of Roses was misted with Salty Ocean, to match the colour of the ribbon in the dress. The circles you see here come from the Circle Loops set.

I thought that the leaves almost looked like hearts, and like they way they sort of float across the page.
