Thankful Stenciled Layout

Hello friends! Today, it is Monday again, after a very sad weekend for the world. We have a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge for you, and the theme is thanks/thankful.

Layers of ink - Thankful Stenciled Layout by Anna-Karin
There are so many things to be thankful for and sometimes it is good to remind yourself of them. I try to do at least one layout or an art journal page about this every year. We have had an absolutely beautiful autumn, with perfect weather, sunny, clear skies and almost no rain. I used some of my photos here. The layout also has a third page (the back of page two here, with even more photos and journaling).

I used Prima's wonderful 12x12 watercolour paper as my background and two stencils by The Crafter's Workshop, the Mini Falling Seeds and the Mini Organic Matter. Distress Paint was sponged through the stencils, aiming for an uneven effect. I love the Mini Falling Seeds stencil with the great Maple tree seeds - and it fit extra well because I taught Anton how to make a nose from Maple tree seeds this autumn.

I used paint instead of ink, since I was planning to mist it with Distress Spray Stains (Antique Linen and Scattered Straw). Drops of Spiced Marmalade were also splattered on the background.

When I saw Hero Arts Color Layering Fall Trees, I knew I had to have it, since I love trees and it is fun building up trees with these stamps. The stamps were inked with Distress Ink, misted with water and stamped. I continued adding leaves until I was happy with the result. The wildlife come from the Winter Scene set. Love the small size of these, perfect for building little scenes.

On the right hand side there is also a fox hiding among the trees. The sentiments come from various sets by Hero Arts. I also used Tim Holtz Sizzix great Bird punch.

Here you can see the seeds a little better, aren't they pretty?

The title was die cut with the Billboard die from kraft-core cardstock. I embossed the letters in a woodgrain folder and sanded them slightly.

I hope you will join us in our thanks challenge. As always you have a chance to win a $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp. This is a two-week challenge, since we are taking a little break over Thanksgiving, so you have even more time to join. You have until the following Monday 8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in.

If you want to, follow Simon Says Stamp on Instagram, they post great stuff daily.

If you use instagram add #sssmchallenge to your challenge entry uploads, so that we can see them on there too.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Happy crafting!
