Summer Memories Album

Hi friends! I hope you had a good weekend! We are still waiting for warm summer weather, hopefully it will be here soon. It is time for another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, and this week we are inspired by summer.

I made an album where I can easily document our memories from this summer. It is a 6 x 8 album and I used Hero Arts stamps and Simon Says Stamp dies to decorate it. I had fun with the new colour layering stamps by Hero Arts, and took a few step photos.

In the color layering stamps, each image consists of several stamps that can be layered on top of each other to produce a multi-coloured design very easily. The packaging of the stamps shows in which order to stamp the images. I inked the first one with Surf Blue and Buttercup.

Ink the second stamp with Island Blue and Goldenlocks.

Ink the third stamp with Soft Navy.

Stamp the feet and the eye with Jet Black ink. You can mix and match colours to either stamp specific birds, as I did here, or make up your own birds.

For the background, I used Hero Art's Woodgrain Bold Print by Lia. White emboss it on watercolour cardstock. Smear four shades of brown Distress Ink on your craft sheet, mist with water and pick up with a paintbrush.

I also stamped some flowers, with another set of layering stamps.

I stamped a bunch of extra flowers, which I will use on inside pages. The Ombre inks worked great for these flowers.

Another fun summer flower. The colour layering stamps are lots of fun and I enjoyed using my coloured inks in different combinations.

The album is 6 x 8 in size and comes with page protectors. I got a refill pack too, to give me space for more photos. Most of the page protectors have pockets, so it will be quick to add photos and papers as summer proceeds. When I tried to link the album now, it seems to be out of stock, I am sorry about that. I misted the covers first with water and then with Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass Distress Spray Stains.

I stamped two birds for my cover. The layering of inks makes for an interesting look. To embellish the cover, I die cut circles with the Simon Says Stamp Smile and Dots Circles dies.

I also used some wooden hearts and die cut branches for the birds to stand on.

I love the Dots Circles set and you get a lot of fun circles in the same set. You can find another example where I used it here.

The title was die cut with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Boardwalk die, and inked with the Pool to Navy Ombre pad.

Join us in our summer challenge this week, and it might be you who wins a $50 shopping voucher from Simon Says Stamp.
