Vibrant Happy Inky Tags

Hi all! It is summer time and we are having an Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week. I hope you will join us!

I had fun making two inky tags using mainly Simon Says Stamp Exclusive products. I couldn't pick between the Butterfly Drift and the Stars Parade, so simply had to make two tags.

I didn't have much of a plan starting out, just a bunch of products that I wanted to use. The background is Bazzill Antique patterned paper, die cut with the Sizzix Tag & Bookplates die. I cut off a thin strip on all the sides, and cut another tag from white cardstock to mat inky one on.

The great Sketched Alphabet letters were clear embossed on the background, placing them in order on my acrylic block. You don't need to stamp one at a time. After embossing, I misted the background with two colours Dylusions mist (Dirty Martini and Calypso Teal). The embossing resists the ink. When the mist was dry, I splattered and misted it with some White Linen and finally also applied embossing ink through the Falling Stars stencil and white embossed the stars. As you can see, not all the stars are perfect, since it is hard to get embossing ink evenly through such a detailed stencils, but I thought it fit with the tag.

I used left-over gelli prints for the stars, die cutting the Stars Parade from different printed papers. They were left-overs from different printing session, such as this, this and this one. I die cut the Star Parade another two times from white cardstock and pieced the coloured stars into the negative spaces. The Sizzix Magnetic Platform works great together with the Simon Says Stamp wafer thin dies.

To finish the tag, I die cut one of my favourite words, added a stamped word and sprinkled tiny wood veneer stars here and there. The stars had been painted with Picket Fence paint. I also stitched a border with embroidery floss.

The second tag was made in pretty much the same way. After clear embossing the alphabet letters on the background I misted it with Dirty Martini, Lemon Zest and just a tiny bit of Calypso Teal. The white embossing was done with the Falling Snow stencil.

The Butterfly Drift was die cut from green, yellow and blue gelli printed papers, as well as from white cardstock, piecing it all together.

This butterfly got a wood veneer arrow as a body.

I die cut a sentiment and stamped the beginning of the sentiment on one of the butterflies. To this tag, I also added some cheese cloth, twill and lace, and heart and arrow wood veneer shapes.

Here you can see the layers of paper, resist stamping, misting, white mist and finally white embossing.

Join us this week and it could be you who wins the $50 gift voucher from Simon Says Stamp, drawn randomly. And remember that anything goes.
