Field of Flowers Art Journal Page

Hello stampers! It is a new month, and one of my favourite months of the year, beautiful May. We are having a new challenge at Craft a Scene, Build a Flower Garden.

 

I decided to work in my art journal this week, creating a wild flower field with stamps and inks. I like the look of a wild flower garden. For the background, I inked a really large acrylic block with Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint). The inked block was misted with water and pressed onto the page. I hadn't done this technique in a while, and it gives such a great and quick watercolour background.

 

After the background dried, I white embossed Darkroom Door flowers and grasses in the foreground. The other flowers were inked with Distress Markers, misted with water about 4-5 times and stamped, for a watercolour effect. Since dye inks are transparent, they will have a more muted look on the green background than if you had stamped them on white paper.

The sentiment and a bunch of small word stamps were stamped with Archival Jet Black ink. I also had to add one of my favourite Tim Holtz stamps, the birds, inked with Stormy Sky, misted with water and stamped. Love the random areas where you see the white of the paper.
