Hello everyone! I am so happy to finally share my first Darkroom Door DT projects. It has taken long because my parcel got stuck in the middle of a postal strike, so I only recently got it. For this post, I used the wonderful Nomad rubber stamp set and made a layout and a double high accordion flip mini-book. I love the old stacked suitcases and fabulous sentiments.
These stamps are perfect for a travel layout:
I decided to use an old photo of my dad and his best friend in a boat, taken during a holiday trip. The background is kraft-core cardstock which was sanded and stamped with some of the sentiments and images using black ink. It is hard to see on this photo. The Journey Word Block stamp works very well together with the Nomad set. I die cut three tags from manila cardstock for a photo mat, inked the stamp with Vintage Photo and Broken China, misted with water and stamped repeatedly, reinking between each impression.
I used an old map paper in the background and whitewashed it with Distress Paint (Picket Fence and Antique Linen) to tone down the colours. The passport stamps and post card were stamped here and there on the background. I also stamped the post card on an inked piece of manila cardstock, cut it out and tucked under the tags.
I used some of the new Sizzix Echo Park Thinlits on the layout, die cut from kraft-core cardstock. The wave embossing folder comes from Tim Holtz Travel Signs Set.

I also made an accordion mini-book:
This would be a perfect gift for someone who loves to travel. I used all the stamps in the Nomad set, they of course work perfectly together. To make the mini-book, I used Karen Burniston's Sizzix Accordion Flip 3-D Album die, but to fit with the stamps, I made it double high (7 in tall) instead of its ordinary height (see how to do this here). I used Sydney Montage photos and Prague Vol. 2 Wordstrip to embellish the mini-book, both fit so well together with the stamps.
It is easier to take photos of the inside pages before assembly, so here you can see the flaps used to attach the pages together. The stack of suitcases was stamped with Archival Jet Black ink on text patterned paper. One suitcase was inked with Broken China and one with Gathered Twigs. The page was finished with a beautiful Sydney photo and some wordstrips.
I thought the Sydney photo with the pointing statue worked really well on a travel mini-book. Here I used more word cut outs and a vintage globe.
Thank you for looking at this long post!
Happy Stamping!!
