12 Tags of 2013 March

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing my version of Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2013 March. This month's theme is of course Easter and spring. I had fun making my tag:

I loved the vintage tinsel technique that Tim shared, but used it with a butterfly instead of the bunny (since I don't have that die). I used the Mini Baroque die to cut out yellow kraft-core cardstock and then placed the butterfly where I wanted it to be and cut that out. To add some more texture to the focal panel, I embossed it with the Bubble folder, sanded and inked.

The tinsel was inked with Mountain Rose, Salmon, Pool and Pebble alcohol inks and melted slightly. I die cut a body for the butterfly from a scrap of blue paper using Eileen Hull's Birds & Butterflies Sizzlits, and coated it with Glossy Accents.

The vintage Easter cards on the patterned paper are so sweet and I cut out one which would have been fully covered by the Baroque panel, it was sanded and tucked behind the ribbon. The ribbon was dyed with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

I am still waiting for Distress Paints to arrive here, so instead I used Adirondack paints for the flowers. Loved the fabulous technique Tim shared with the Memo Pin and the brad, so clever. After assemblying my flowers I thought they needed some shine, so I coated them with Glossy Accents. Looks pretty nice doesn't it?

Here's the other flower tucked in among the grass.

The Tapered Fringe die should arrive here any day now, but for this tag, I simply used a pair of scissors to fringe a strip of green kraft-core. I cut some at an angle and some shorter, for more variety. The grass was sanded and inked. I used alphabet stamps to stamp the title on a tattered banner.

Thank you for the visit!! Tomorrow I am sharing a fun Easter tutorial on the Sizzix blog.

Happy crafting!

  1. So pretty, Anna-Karin! I love your glossy flowers... and the delicious shabby chic look of the whole thing. Love how your butterfly looks with that fantastic body over the top (a butterfly was one of the things I tried, but failed to come up with anything that pleased me, and in the end I've gone another way - posting soon!) - beautiful delicate embossing on the panel too!
