CSI case file #46

Hello Saturday! I am sorry about the quiet blog week, I've been very busy with projects that I can't share yet. Lots of fun things happening on the blog next week. And of course today we have a new CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration challenge. Here's this week's case file:

And my layout:

I have no idea why purple is the only colour I sometimes struggle to use, I actually like it. I had been waiting for a case file with purple nevertheless, because I wanted to scrap these photos and they needed some purple. From the evidence items I used: grid design (both the patterned paper, the embossed vellum and the stenciled grid), pompom ribbon, frames, something translucent. From the testimony items I made a translucent journaling pocket (a vellum matchbook).

I applied Dusty Concord Distress Stain through a stencil to create the purple grid, it worked really well, very little stain seeped under the stencil, even though I was not careful at all. The yellow hearts were stencilled on top with yellow paint and the dots were stamped with chalk ink. The layout needed a bit of black too, so I stamped a vintage pram, sentiments and butterflies with Archival Jet Black.

I was happy to use some VERY old Making Memories stickers for the title.

The mat board frames are leftovers from my Memory Game project, cut with the Candy Drawer die. They were sort of in the way on my desk and I almost tossed them several times, but three of them made their way onto this layout.

For the journaling, I made a matchbook of vellum, using the Matchbook die. The front flap was dry embossed. I added three pages to the inside for the journaling and stapled it together, also adding a film strip ribbon, which had the perfect width. I was going to have written the journaling the other way around, but forgot, so you have to turn your head a bit to read it. Journaling translates: 'Here's Anton and his cousin with their soft dolls, called Siv and Jonas. Anton found Jonas in a shop and refused to let go of him, and my sister bought Siv to her daughter at the same time. Jonas was very well-loved for quite a while, but doesn't get much attention at the moment. Anton was very scary and unpredictable to his little cousin at this time and she started to cry terribly of fear just after the second photo was taken.'

Thank you for looking! I hope you will join us this week. If you have never tried the CSI challenges, I really suggest that you will, it is such a great challenge and a very friendly place.
