CSI case file #45

I was very happy to see that Tim Holtz linked my Autumn Accordion Booklet in his Blogworthy Autumn Links post. Thank you Tim! Don't miss checking out the other projects he linked, they are all awesome.

Today we have a lovely earthy case file at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration:

I did a layout using a lot of stamps:

From the evidence items I used: trees, woodgrain, book pages (old dictionary), silver metal accent, and vintage text.

One of the journaling prompts that Debbi linked in the case file was to write about a relative who was part of a historical event, it made me think about my relatives who emigrated to the USA during the big emigration from Sweden. Between around 1850-1929, about 1.3 million Swedes emigrated, most of them to the USA. A large part of the Swedish population. Although many of them became farmers, Chicago was the world's second largest 'Swedish' city. This layout is about my grandfather's two brothers who emigrated in the early 1920s, and especially about the brother on this photo, who came to visit in the summers when we were children and made a very big impression on us. He lived in Chicago and emigrated when he was just about 18 years old. I wrote a long piece of journaling about my memories, and also included journaling from my dad about his memories of him (that I asked him to write for this layout). The journaling is placed behind the layout.

I found a patterned paper that worked really well with the combo and stamped a lot on top of it, to make it work for my topic. I used the fabulous ship stamp by Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous, and also a plane, old car, tickets, boarding passes, and a clock. There is also a script stamp which is an old Swedish letter.

The globe was die cut from white mat board and inked softly. I cut the continents out one more time, from text patterned paper and glued them on top. The game spinner arrow shows the direction of the ship.

I just love this stamp, it looks like it comes straight out o the paper and it fit perfectly below the text (which is part of the patterned paper).

Another little map, a silver clock, tickets and an appropriate Chit Chat sticker.

I also used my favourite Branch Tree die, cut it from white mat board, painted brown, and sanded for texture. A lot of old Prima flowers were glued to it.

Thank you for looking! Don't miss the fabulous case file reveal page, the DT has done a wonderful job with this case file.
