CSI case file #44: My friends

Hi everyone! This week we are welcoming all the new DT members to CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. You must check out the case file reveal page, because it is full of amazing layouts, by the DT and guests. Out special investigator guest this month is the fabulous Jennifer McGuire. Here's this week's case file:

I wanted to do a double layout this week:

The 'fan mail' part of the testimony inspiration items made me think of these photos of my son together with his two very much loved soft toys. I used photos from when he was a tiny baby and wrote a fan mail to his toys. From the evidence items I used: swirls, stripes, doilies, something transparent.

I used mainly stamps to create this layout, one of my favorite things to do. I simply picked out inks in the four colours of the combo and layered stamps all over the ledger patterned paper. Since I used mainly dye inks, they are transparent and the lines of the paper show through. I used heart stamps, an elephant, swirls, a doily and several love related stamps.

I also used the sweet Love Set Sizzlits from Karen Burniston and die cut the word and the hearts from white cardstock. Because the photos are pretty busy, I didn't add a lot of embellishments to the page.

The journaling was printed on a transparency and cut into two parts. I spelled some of the words the way my son pronounces them. The photo to the top right was his very first photo, which he took when he was 1.5 years old (I held the camera, he pressed the button).

Journaling translation:
'Dear best friends, I lowe you more than almost anything else. I hug you when I sleep and could never sleep without you. You never complain, even though I have often used you as dummies and have chewed on you, and spilled things on you. Sometimes you have to bath in the washing machine. Grandma bought elephant before I was born, look how big he looks next to me on the first photo. Grandma bought giraffe too and I loved it immediately. Mommy doesn’t know why I picked you two as my favourites, but it is because you are my best friends. If I am sad, you console me, when I am tired, you hug me, and when I want to play you are always with me. I took my very first photo of you, where you sit in my Pooh chair, with mommy’s camera. I lowe you.’

A close-up of some of the stamping and one of the die cuts.

The heart from Hero Arts was just perfect for this layout.

The elephant comes from Tim Holtz's Life Adventure set, stamped with Hero Arts Cerulean ink.

The ticket was cut with the Mini Tickets Movers & Shapers die and stamped with a Valentines day stamp.

Thank you for visiting! I hope you will join us this week! I'll be back later today with a fun tutorial and a Sizzix pop 'n cuts event.
