CSI case file #37

Hi everyone! This is the second week of the CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration teaming up with Once Upon a Sketch. Here's this weeks great case file and sketch:
I did a layout about some of the things my son thinks are scary at the moment:

From the evidence items I used: dots and stripes, buttons, labels. I was going to write my whole journaling on the page and scatter it around, but as usual, I wrote too much so I placed it on a page tucked behind the layout. A few journaling words were written on stamped labels and scattered around the page. The page is also inspired by the testimony word of 'daydreaming'.

I had to add a few spots of yellow, because his main fear (and the title of the layout) is 'yellow eyes', a lion hiding in a cave in a children's rhyme. I also hid a not very scary looking lion among the houses. The misting was done with Dylusions mist (London Blue) and using a Dylusions stencil.

Another fear is a witch from an old children's programme, which he is not watching anymore, so that he will hopefully forget about it, but he still speaks about this witch often and calls it 'ugly'. Not great when he saw someone with a triangular looking hat in the shop and shouted 'ugly' 'ugly'... The silhouette and frame stamp comes from one of the new Tim Holtz Stamper's Anonymous sets Artful Silhouettes. I stamped the silhouette with Archival Ink on Specialty Stamping paper and cut it out. The hat was traced on black modeling film, cut out, heated and shaped a bit .The frame was heat embossed on Specialty Stamping paper (first die cut using the Mini Baroque die), using Cement powder. Then I inked with Black Soot around the edges. I tucked a piece of punchinella behind the frame.

The row of houses were die cut from mat board with the Townscape die, painted silver and then distressed with black paint, to make it look like it is night. Here's a close up of the friendly lion hiding between the houses.

The monsters were stamped with Archival Jet Black on watercolour paper and watercoloured with Distress Inks (Salty Ocean, Black Soot, Mustard Seed). The labels were stamped on Specialty Stamping paper. I also stamped a Tim Holtz spider net stamp on three places on the background.

Spiders are scary too, and the definition of 'spider' is at the bottom of the strip of dictionary paper.

Two scary little guys, also with yellow eyes.

Thank you for looking! I hope you'll join us this week in the challenge.

  3. I have been looking at the artful silhouettes thinking something Halloweenish could come from them. The additio of the witch's hat is perfect.
