Hello everyone! Today I have a project to share with you made with Eileen Hull's Recipe Box die by Sizzix.
The Recipe Card Box is such a great die. If you want to see a tutorial using this die, I posted one here. I made a little box about the power of the written word and I am planning to add quotes to it later. All the stamps are by Tim Holtz. I made this box probably over a year ago, and I have shared just a photo of it in another post about Eileen's Vintage Kitchen dies, but realised I had forgotten to post this full post.
The box was die cut from cream mat board. I stamped it with various images in black. The same images were stamped again on a sticky note and used as masks when I inked the box.
When the inking was done, I removed the masks and added some colour to the stamped images, as well as shadows. The scrip alphabet was white embossed on top (remember to let the Distress Ink dry first, otherwise the embossing powder will stick everywhere).
I also stamped with a splatter stamp and splattered some Black Soot ink here and there. Some details were enhanced with a glitter gel pen.
The pen nib was distressed with Black Soot paint.
The back of the box looks like this, with a typewriter taking center stage.
The embossing and splatters add texture to the project.
I stamped all the edges of the box too. It is easiest to do the stamping and inking before you assemble the box.
The Scoreboards dies both cuts and scores the material, making them easy to assemble. I tied the box with a string, but you could also use Velcro or a little magnet.
I am just going to toss some quotes into this box, as I come across them, to have them ready to use on other projects.
Thank you so much for stopping by today!
